*𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐯*

The human race is a complicated subject. Humans are capable of kindness, and they can be kind, but they can also be cruel. Once (Y/n) first came into conscious of being a shinigami, the thought of another human killing another was something ridiculous to her, so when she first went down to the human realm, she witnessed the killing of a human from another human. 

That day, she found out that all humans have darkness inside of them, all they need is a little push. Trust her, she has seen many ways that darkness was brought out of them, but the ones that really stuck to her were their emotions. 

If a human was jealous of another, it could go to the extent of murder. Emotions, something so fragile, so complicated, something that (Y/n) found a joke. Emotions? Who needs those? Only humans do, for there are positive emotions such as happiness and empathy that could make someone do a good deed, but then there are the negative ones. Anger, hatred, jealousy, something that always made a slight shiver go down her spine. 

'Humans,' (Y/n) thought, 'make me sick.' Taking a swing of her scythe (Y/n) sighed as the skulls tumbled down to the covered ground with various species skeletons. "Nothing but skeletons as far as the eye can see." (Y/n) whispered to herself and placed the scythe on a holder on her back. 

Opening her big, black-feathered wings (Y/n) flew above the billions of skeletons below heading for her friend, another shinigami, named Ryuk. 

"I haven't seen him in a while, so why not go pay a visit on this dull day?" (Y/n) mused to herself as an excited smile spread on her (S/c) face. Seeing the dozen of shinigami hanging out with each other as some gambled away nothing (Y/n) descended on the uncomfortable ground and tucked in her wings. 

Walking towards the shinigami with metal on his face (Y/n) tapped his shoulder making him turn around and let out a small shriek in fear. "Excuse me, but have you seen Ryuk around?" (Y/n) asked him with a polite smile on her face. 

The shinigami slightly shrank back, a nervous smile on his face. "Y-Yeah, I have, actually. He was here a minute ago..." The shinigami drifted off with a nervous voice. (Y/n) hummed, "I see, so, where is he now?" (Y/n) continued to question him, a frown soon seedling on her (L/c) lips. 

The shinigami gulped while the other shinigami near him quickly moved away. "He... he went to the human realm." The shinigami admitted fear soon creeping into his heart. (Y/n) nodded her head and yawned, "Guess I'm gonna have to wait for him." (Y/n) announced in a quiet voice, opening her black wings and flying off. 

'Ryuk went away to the human realm... well, don't blame him. I would do the same thing... if I was an idiot.' (Y/n) scoffed, landing on her usual spot. Sighing, (Y/n) fell on the uncomfortable ground and looked up at the forever gloomy sky. 

"(Y/n)." Hearing her name (Y/n) quickly jumped up from the ground and turned around to face the shinigami king. Quickly bowing, (Y/n) eyes were trained on the ground. "My king, how can I serve you today?" (Y/n) asked him, a calm tone in her voice. 

The shinigami was quiet before giggling making (Y/n) slightly tense up. "I'm sure you heard about the shinigami Ryuk going down to earth and... dropping his death note there, too." The shinigami king informed her, amusement clear in his eyes as he saw (Y/n) eyes widen a fraction of an inch before going back to their usual bored eyes. 

"I was informed of his first action, but not his second." (Y/n) answered him, already dreading what the shinigami king would say next. The shinigami king smiled, "You are to go down there and make sure that things don't get too out of control, affirmative immediately." The shinigami king ordered her. 

(Y/n) nodded, "Understood." Opening her wings (Y/n) quickly flew away from her king and towards the stairs leading to the human realm. The shinigami looked at her retreating figure and smirked. "I hope this helps you, (Y/n). My most trusted subordinate." The shinigami king chuckled, thunder crackling as a sign of bad things to come.

Looking down at the ominous portal to the human realm (Y/n) gulped. "So many years... I guess I should give the human realm a visit." (Y/n) tried to calm herself. Opening her wings (Y/n) flew down. 

A sudden flash of white appeared as soon left as the only thing that (Y/n) could see or hear was the pider-padder of the harsh rain touching the ground, lights illuminating the streets as car honks resonated up above.

Flying down to the ground below (Y/n) passed by walking humans who were completely oblivious of the god of death flying away from them. Looking around (Y/n) located Ryuk's location and headed to a right and passed by a high school. Going down a street (Y/n) landed on a tree branch and looked through the window and saw Ryuk eating some apples while talking to the boy called Light Yagami. 

Glancing down at the human's hands (Y/n) groaned, 'Too late, the human has already obtained the death note. Oh, Ryuk... you've fucked up.' Sighing, (Y/n) went through the window and landed next to the un-suspecting Ryuk. 

Ryuk ate a piece of the apple and commented, "Tasty." He complimented the sweet fruit. "I know, right? Human food is much tastier than what we originally have thought." (Y/n) laughed, putting her weight on Ryuk's shoulder. 

Ryuk quickly jumped at turned around towards her, dropping the half-eaten apple on the ground. Seeing the calm (Y/n) Ryuk let out a raspy laugh. "Ha, (Y/n)... what are you doing here?" Ryuk questioned her, fear slowly creeping into his heart at what she may say. 

(Y/n) smiled, "The shinigami king sent me here to make sure you don't do any stupid shit." (Y/n) answered him, taking out her death note and throwing it at the slightly startled Light. Seeing a death note pop out of nowhere Light touched the death note and flipped through its pages seeing 20 pages filled with names. 

"Light Yagami, should I kill you now to save all the trouble or should I sit tight and enjoy the show?" (Y/n) asked him, taking back her death note and placing it back securely on her holder net to her left hip.

Light looked at her in surprise, now understanding as to why his shinigami was talking to nothing but air. "Another shinigami, may you please tell me why you're here?" Light asked her, his eyes glinting a blood red. 

(Y/n) took an apple and sat down on his bed, legs crossed. "Here's the deal, I came here to join Ryuk, not for you, but to make sure he does nothing stupid, which I see I have already failed at, and so I will stay here until you either die or give up ownership of the death note. So, I will accompany you and Ryuk wherever you go, so know I'm a part of this illegal human and god team, you already know my name. Any questions?" (Y/n) asked him, looking over to the slightly dazed Light. 

Shaking his head, Light sighed, "So, you're with Ryuk?" Light asked her, pinching the bridge of his nose in slight annoyance. (Y/n) nodded, "Correct, and for a while, with you as well." Light nodded his head and looked over at his death note. 

"So, unlike Ryuk, you will help me with any of my enemies?" Light questioned her, slight hope flaring in his eyes. (Y/n) hummed, "Depends if I wish to." (Y/n) shortly answered him, grabbing an apple and munching on it. 

"Though, I am not like other shinigami. If I wish to, I don't have to make someone touch the death note to see me, I just have to agree with them seeing me. So, to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I will become your next-door neighbor. See you tomorrow in class, Light-Kun." (Y/n) announced. Getting up from her seat on the bed (Y/n) hugged Ryuk goodbye and waved to Light. 

Suddenly disappearing from their vision Ryuk looked over at the slightly confused Light and chuckled. "That's (Y/n) for you, using smart words when she first meets you, then becoming someone that she never was back in the day."

Laying down on the bed (Y/n) sighed, "Ah... why couldn't I have been an idiot back then? Now, I have to be all professional!" (Y/n) groaned. Looking over at the crying sky (Y/n) looked over at the clock. 

"I suppose the shinigami king has already arranged everything. Babysitting... I already do that with every other shinigami, so this should be no different." (Y/n) said to herself. Deciding to go to sleep (Y/n) set an alarm and went into useless sleep, the familiar darkness consuming her.
